Our brewers joined their counterparts from other breweries recently to explore the Hereford and Worcester hop farms on a day of hop industry updates and brewer networking.

Huge thanks to the Charles Faram team for organising another great HopWalk® event.

The guys chose Challenger as the hop to rush back to the brewery and brew with in the first Oakham Green Hop Harvest Ale since 2013.

We’ve used plenty of Challenger over the years – its subtle bittering qualities have been a superb complement to the New World hop flavours our beers are famous for.

But Challenger these days exhibits some great aroma and flavour characteristics – even more so as a freshly picked “green” hop.

So we’ve used liberal quantities of the variety in “HopWalk” and our brewers tell us that it’s shaping up really well.

Smooth with balanced floral characteristics, citrus flavours and a dash of spice.
