Mompesson’s Gold

returning Oakham cask aged legend first brewed in 1996.

Earthy floral aromas and sweet fruit flavours lead to a long, hoppy, bittersweet finish.

Named after Giles Mompesson, the corrupt 17th Century MP and Commissioner of Inns who prosecuted over 3,320 inns and taverns on the basis of spurious regulations.

Found guilty of extortion, he was ordered to pay a £10,000 fine, lost his knighthood and was sentenced to riding  down the Strand facing backwards on his horse.

There’s a lesson with regards to The Post Office there perhaps?
